Christy Gabbard, M.Ed., is Program Development and Outreach Specialist at P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida. During her 16 years in education she has taught elementary, middle, and high school students, specializing in reading intervention with adolescents. She also worked extensively with teachers and students serving as a literacy coach prior to focusing on curriculum development for schools and districts. Most recently, her work has been centered on supporting communities of educators as they engage in the examination and redesign of K-12 curriculum across disciplines.

I am married to Cliff Gabbard and together we are raising two talented daughters in Gainesville, Fl. My passions beyond public education include collecting kitschy mid-century knick-knacks and furnishings, reading historical fiction, and spending time on adventures with my family. My work in education is ultimately about creating student-centered learning environments that create healthy space for young people to learn and grow.
